Cobra - Bhujangasana
This posture is a remedy for many of today's maladies including poor posture, stress and low self- confidence
It can feel frustrating at first because we are not accustomed to using the muscles of our backs. Stretching the throat, chest and belly can be uncomfortable at first. Engage the back muscles as much as possible, bending the spine backward and lengthening the front.
Benefits
Cobra strengthens the backside of the body especially the spine. Stretches the front side and increases our energy. The kidneys and adrenal glands are compressed and gently massaged reducing cortisol and therefore stress. Pressure on the pelvis increases testosterone, increasing self esteem and confidence. The posture helps us breathe into the upper portions of the lungs, expanding our lung capacity.
