Standing Bow Pulling Pose - Dandayamana Danurasana

Dec, 11, 2013

This is the second posture in our series of one-legged balancing asanas.  This is the only posture that moves all the blood from one side of the body to the other and then back again.  It uses compression and extension and then release to systematically bring fresh blood and oxygen to all the organs and glands.  It develops balance, increases the size and elasticity of the rib cage, firms the abdominal wall and upper thigh, tightens upper arms, hips and buttocks and improves the flexibility and strength of the lower spine.  Mentally, Standing Bow builds patience, determination and concentration.

Much more flexible! Learned how to recognize tension in my body and how to release it. I simply have become more aware of my body ~ inside and out. The studio is always orderly and a pleasant place to reflect and relax.
